❆❆❆ CUMBERLAND COUNTY CODE BLUE ❆❆❆
VOLUNTEERS & DONATIONS NEEDED!
During the winter months, "Code Blue" activations are called by the Office of Emergency Management when temperatures fall below 32 degrees for two or more hours between 6pm and 6am.
At that time, warming centers are provided in order to support the health and wellbeing of our neighbors who are unhoused or without heat.
There is an urgent need for volunteers across Cumberland County in order to remain open during this especially cold winter. Shifts are 2 - 4 hours long, with minimal duties as listed below:
Dinner preparation and service
Guest check-in and security screening
Fellowship and donation give away
Overnight supervision, possible donation sorting
Early morning supervision, breakfast preparation and guest departure
This is a great opportunity to serve the most vulnerable among us, meet new friends, and maybe even catch up on some reading in the late night/early morning hours.
There is no commitment required, and serving just one shift in a season could save a life and will certainly make many lives easier on a cold night.
Our work also depends on donations of food, disposable food service items, and clothing.
