about our trip to alaska

The Alaska Team from Living Faith is partnering with the Tanalian Bible Camp that has been serving the indigenous population of South West Alaska since 1963. You should really check out its origination; it is a pretty cool ministry (tanalianbiblecamp.org). Our destination is a town called Port Alsworth which is only accessible by boat or plane. There are literally no roads that go there. Tanalian Bible Camp has worked with churches throughout the US to support the important work they are doing to help southwest Alaskans have hope through the power of the Gospel to lead healthy communities. Alcohol, depression, and suicide are all a significant part of community life in rural Alaska. The ministries of Tanalian Bible Camp include overnight camps for kids, conferences, and leadership and job training. In these ways, they have developed relationships and gained acceptance in many other remote communities that also are only accessible by boat or plane.

Our team is going during the High School week of the overnight camp which has been traditionally one of the hardest weeks. They need counselors for in the cabin, maintenance people, and program leaders. I am still figuring out what my role will be but the message I am being told is to be flexible and come ready to serve the kids and the camp staff in whatever is needed. After our intense week of ministry, we will spend a day or two in Anchorage recouping, debriefing as a team, and seeing the beauty of Alaska.
Trip date: TBD

Alaska Trip Fundraiser

Some will get to go while others can support those going by praying for them, giving financially, or joining creative fundraisers. Every act and prayer counts as we deploy this team in June.
